• 9-12 Session
Friday, November 13, 2015 | 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Room M100 AB (Minneapolis Convention Center)
We’ll look at world-best times in the marathon for men and for women over the course of a number of years, and do some data analysis on the findings. We’ll discuss the best ways of interpreting and showing the results. Some ways might shed light on the issue, while others might cloud it more.

GREAT presentation at the recent NCTM conference in Minneapolis. Thank you for the take away for our classes. I plan on using your topic as we study lines of best fit and I will go much deeper with my students than I usually do as you went deeper with us and asked us the hard questions You are a wonderful presenter, very prepared and polished.
Blessings on your next marathon.
Hi Lorrie –
Thanks for the kind words, and for coming to the session. Please let me know how you modify the activity – it’s always good to get fresh perspectives!
Thank you, Paul, for the engaging presentation and for provided us access to the word doc. I plan on using the Marathon data in class tomorrow with my 8th grade Algebra students.
Hi Sarah –
How was the marathon activity with your students? What did you change from the original? What worked well? What would you change if you did it again?
